Senior Accountant – Part-time

Position Description: This Senior Accountant (part-time) position is a perfect match for an experienced professional looking to make a difference in their community, with part-time hours.  At between 8-16 hours/week, there is no plan for this to become a full-time position.  The position is responsible for the timely and accurate preparations of the organization’s financial and accounting reporting in support of established policies and procedures.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Prepare recurring monthly journal entries
  • Responsible for reconciling monthly credit card statements in a timely manner
  • Prepare monthly financial statements in accordance with GAAP, with supporting notes explaining variances from budget
  • Responsible for Accounts Receivable management
  • Prepare analytics, metrics and schedules as needed for the annual audit & special projects
  • Responsible for other duties as assigned by the COO/CFO

Required Education, Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum of three (3) years experience in accounting; five (5) years preferred.
  • Must be proficient in computer use including Microsoft office applications
  • Able to work autonomously in a deadline driven work environment.
  • Must have attention to detail
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work well with all levels of internal management and staff, as well as outside clients and vendors.
  • Requires Bachelors degree in accounting or equivalent. CPA or MBA preferred.
  • Must have the ability to effectively communicate and interact with coworkers, managers and customers/clients.
  • Must be proficient in MS Excel skills and Quick Books Premier
  • Must be comfortable spending 95% of time doing stationary work at the computer terminal.
  • Must have a commitment to the mission of Jewish Family Services.

VISTA Volunteer Recruiter

Position Description: The VISTA Volunteer Recruiter is a FT VISTA Americorps position assisting the Volunteer Manager in implementation of the recruitment, training and orientation, recognition and retention of agency volunteers.  The position will help coordinate volunteer outreach, marketing and record keeping under the supervision of the Volunteer Manager.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate community outreach programs and events to build relationships and connect with potential volunteers.
  • Develop and implement social media and marketing campaigns to reach volunteers.
  • Provide training orientation to new volunteers across all programs.
  • Coordinate recognition programs for existing volunteers, ensuring JFS volunteers receive appropriate recognition for their hard work and dedication..
  • Create, implement and manage retention programs for existing volunteers, ensuring JFS volunteers are happy with their volunteer experience.
  • Create and maintain volunteer records.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Education, Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in volunteer recruiting, recognition and retention preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 2010 and Windows 7 computing environment, and experience with internet resources, and social media.
  • Interest in and experience with public speaking.
  • Familiarity with Jewish community a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Respect for cultural diversity.
  • Must have own reliable personal transportation
