JFS Hanukkah Gift Project is Underway
With Hanukkah not too far off, Jewish Family Services is stepping in to help individuals and families – whose financial resources are stretched to the limit - celebrate the Festival of Lights.
The agency is sponsoring a Hanukkah Gift Project. JFS seeks donation of items for these family Hanukkah packages such as new toys for children, gift cards to area retail stores, restaurants, grocery stores and gasoline cards as well as items shopped for by local families. These items will be distributed the week before Hanukkah.
You may make monetary donations for the Hanukkah Project by clicking here to donate online or sending a check to the JFS office at the Jewish Community Campus, 5801 W. 115th St., Suite 103, Overland Park, KS. Please make checks payable to JFS Hanukkah Project. All donations are tax deductible.
JFS is also looking to identify potential recipients of these gift packages as well as individual families and organizations to adopt these families for the holiday. If you or someone you know needs assistance or you want to adopt a family, please contact Sondra Atherly, JFS project coordinator, at (913) 327-8265 or email her at satherly@jfskc.org . All information will be kept confidential.
A wrapping party will take place on Monday, Dec. 15 at the JFS offices; to volunteer, please contact Adrienne Kizer, director of volunteers and special projects, (913) 328-8257 or email her at akizer@jfskc.org.
