Extreme Yard Rakeover

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! Help older adults in our community!
Rake and pick up fallen twigs in their yards before winter arrives.

Extreme Yard Rakeover is a dynamic volunteer project in its fifth year. A collaborative effort of Jewish Family Services and Shepherd’s Center Central, we match volunteer groups with older adults that need their yards raked.  All older adults receiving this service are homeowners who are physically and financially unable to rake their own yards!

  • This year our goal is to assist over 100 older adult homeowners throughout most of Johnson County and parts of southern Jackson County.
  • Over 750 volunteers are needed to reach this goal.
  • Extreme Yard Rakeover is a fun, active, community service opportunity for all types of groups – families, congregants, co-workers, friends, school groups, sports clubs, scouts, etc…
  • The ideal group contains 6 – 10 members.  Children are welcome to participate with adult supervision.
  • All raking should be completed within the first two weeks of November – you may choose the day and time most convenient to you.
  • Volunteers bring rakes; we provide lawn and leaf bags.
  • T-shirts and bags will be given to the first 500 volunteers who attend our Kick-Off Party on Sunday, November 4th!
