The faces of hunger in America are both familiar and hidden from view, yet they are all too real and far too many.
Congregation Beth Shalom, Jewish Family Services and Episcopal Community Services are joining together to host This Is Hunger, an interactive experience on wheels (literally, it’s a big rig) coming to Kansas City through MAZON: A Jewish Response to Hunger.

This national touring exhibit is a local interfaith effort to raise awareness about the prevalence of hunger in Greater Kansas City, and bring you face to face with hunger in America. The public is invited to experience the 45-minute multi-media exhibit and come away inspired to educate and advocate for change!
Through digital and hands-on activities, This is Hunger takes participants on a compelling journey that draws them into the real-life circumstances of individuals.
This is Hunger is housed in a 53-foot-long double expandable trailer. When parked and open, it provides almost 1,000 square feet of exhibit space to spark awareness and help participants understand the stark reality and complexity of hunger in the United States. The exhibit is on a 10-month national tour that is stopping in more than 30 cities across the country. This is the only stop the exhibit will make in the state of Kansas!
While This Is Hunger is free, there is a pre-set schedule of tour times. Reservations are required. To check the schedule and make reservations for free tickets, visit thisishunger.org and click on Find Tickets.
Or visit the KC event page at thisishunger-overlandpark.eventbrite.com.
The exhibit is open to all ages, but is recommended for ages 12 and older as the real-life nature of material may be difficult for younger audiences. Discussion guides for educators and groups are available to enhance the learning experience by contacting us in advance.
For information on registration, large group reservations or questions about the schedule, please contact Farrah Udell at (913) 647-7282 or email@example.com. Look hunger in the face and learn how to help make a difference together.
