The JET Express volunteer driver program provided over 1,200 rides to older adults for medical appointments, grocery store visits and hair appointments, just to name a few.

More than $350,000 in life crisis assistance funds was distributed for help with rent, utilities, medical bills and other critical needs.

The Jewish Community Chaplain and 15 Spiritual Care Volunteers made more than 2,200 visits to individuals in 22 hospitals and elder care facilities.

Help with an Aging Person

Jet Express- JET Express helps older adults maintain their active and independent lifestyle by providing rides to the doctor’s office, the grocery, or even a social event.

To become a JET Express Member, you must be:

  • 65 years of age or older
  • without readily available transportation
  • Non-wheelchair bound (if the member can self-transfer into and out of the car and have his/her wheelchair put into the trunk, that is acceptable)

Help@Home- provides high quality, dependable minor home repair services and access to a variety of other services needed to help older adults maintain their independence. A professional Community Handyman, Seroj Terian serves the needs of Help@Home members.

Help@Home services include:

  • Minor home repairs and chore services

    Repairs may include, but are not limited to fixing toilets, leaky faucets, installing handrails and grab bars, and much more. A complete list of repairs is available upon request.

  • One-on-one computer troubleshooting
  • Help with computer tasks such as e-mail, printing documents or connecting to the Internet.
  • Annual home safety assessments
  • Occupational therapists from John Knox Village will make sure a member’s home is a safe and comfortable living environment. Help@Home staff is available to assist with modifications.
  • Annual nursing assessments
  • A registered nurse is available to assess your medical/surgical history, medication set-up, fall risk status and nutrition/hydration status.  A full head-to-toe physical assessment is also conducted.
  • Annual nutritional assessments
  • A registered dietician is available to provide individual nutritional assessment and consultation, meal/menu planning, and teach cooking techniques to enhance a member’s health.
  • Information and Referral

JFS staff is available to help members if they need assistance accessing additional community resources to help them live independently.
