The JET Express volunteer driver program provided over 1,200 rides to older adults for medical appointments, grocery store visits and hair appointments, just to name a few.

More than $350,000 in life crisis assistance funds was distributed for help with rent, utilities, medical bills and other critical needs.

The Jewish Community Chaplain and 15 Spiritual Care Volunteers made more than 2,200 visits to individuals in 22 hospitals and elder care facilities.

Financial Assistance

The Jewish Federation, in partnership with Jewish Family Services, offers 3 funds to help our community members meet emergency and long-term needs. All funds listed below are available to qualifying recipients, and are administered by Jewish Family Services. Qualifying recipients must live in the Greater Kansas City area (five county area). To determine your eligibility for these or other funds, contact the Jewish Services Helpline, at 913-327-8293. Jewish Family Services considers each applicant for funds on a case-by-case basis.

Gesher Fund- provides short-term, emergency financial assistance for Jewish residents of the Greater Kansas City area (five county area). Assistance may be given on an ongoing basis during the course of a year, and is subject to an individual/per family cap.

Gesher XL Fund- This emergency assistance fund is for those whose immediate needs are beyond the financial scope of the Gesher Fund. This is a short-term emergency fund and cannont be used for medium or long-term situations. The Gesher XL Fund is available to residents of the Greater Kansas City area (five county area).

Chesed- accessible to Jewish clients to address a certified chronic client situation. These situations are for medium- and long term assistance. Typically, qualifying participants need regular assistance with specified living expenses. The Chesed Fund is available to Jewish residents of the Greater Kansas City area (five county area).
