Aging and Older Adults

Aging and Older Adults
As we age, some things in life become more challenging. JFS is here to help with aging-related changes such as support to maintain a home, transportation, health needs, mobility requirements, bereavement, isolation, emotional concerns, lifestyle transitioning and more.
Counseling - JFS clinicians have the expertise to assist older adults in overcoming a multitude of obstacles.
Help@Home - This program provides high quality, dependable minor home repairs and access to a variety of other services needed to help older adults maintain their independence at home. With Help@Home, older adults get the peace of mind they need to stay in control of their daily lives for as long as they choose to stay in their homes.
Information and Assistance - Our caring and experienced social workers help you face new issues as they arise and help you navigate both JFS and other services that are available.
Older Adult Assessments-
Jewish Family Services has developed a comprehensive three-tier Older Adult Assessment to help individuals and their families find the answers they need. The assessment is conducted by a team of professionals in mental health, nursing, dietary, and occupational therapy.
JET Transportation Programs- JET was established in 2007 with a grant from the Harry and Jeannette Weinberg Foundation, and a generous, anonymous donor within the Kansas City Jewish Community. The programs goals are to improve the ability of older adults to access transportation that meets their individual needs and to promote older adults' independence through education and advocacy. There are a variety of transportation programs to meet older adults needs.
- JET Express - This program is for any older adult who is no longer able to drive on their own. Community volunteers drive members to the doctor, the grocery store, the hairdresser and other appointments.
