Jewish Senior Network joins Jewish Family Services
In a move to streamline operations, Jewish Senior Network has become part of the services offered by Jewish Family Services of Greater Kansas City. Established in 2001 by the Jewish Federation of Greater Kansas City, JSN provides four distinct services to Jewish seniors and disabled adults:
- information and referral
- no-cost needs assessment
- no-cost case management
- financial subsidies for those who qualify
The move of JSN activities to JFS has been seamless and clients should experience no change in services. JSN Coordinator Christine Jamerson will continue to coordinate the program at JFS.
Since its inception, JFS has provided no-cost needs assessments and case management to Jewish seniors and disabled adults through JSN. A comprehensive survey evaluates a client’s socialization, recreation, physical/mental health, spirituality, and housing situation. The JSN case manager will provide recommendations based on the assessment.
Now everything will be under one roof, making the service more cost-effective as well as efficient.
"JSN's move from Federation to Jewish Family Services makes sense in light of the newly expanded role JFS is playing with senior services,” said Todd Stettner, Federation executive vice president and CEO.
“The Federation and its partner agencies are constantly trying to streamline our processes, cut costs and provide the best possible service we can to serve our community. JSN's move is just another example of how the Federation works with our partner agencies and fellow funders to achieve this goal,” Stettner said.
“The Federation had tremendous foresight in establishing the Jewish Senior Network several years ago and we laud the organization’s efforts in this area,” said Don Goldman, JFS executive director. “We welcome JSN into the JFS family of programs helping to serve our community and meet its members’ needs.”
JSN will continue to operate its hotline at (913) 327- 4677. The hotline helps seniors and their caretakers connect with services such as home care, support groups, activities, facilities, and transportation.
Jewish Family Services supports and strengthens the Jewish and general communities by providing high quality services and programs that address the needs of individuals and families dealing with crises and everyday challenges of life.
