Dear JFS Family,
I wanted to let you know that I have made the difficult decision to retire later this year. I have loved the last 15 years at JFS, working with all of you to improve the lives of thousands of families each year. JFS has such an incredible community; you all have taught me so much about how to help people in ways that I knew little about before I came to the agency.
I will miss working with you, but Martha and I are ready to spend more time traveling and seeing our grandchildren.
JFS is in great shape, with an amazing staff, a great board, dedicated volunteers, and strong financials. In the last 15 years, JFS has grown to serve more than 10,000 clients each year, more than 4 times what we served when I joined. And the breadth of our offerings is impressive. I am glad to leave JFS in such a time of strength.
The Executive Committee of the Board has detailed plans for succession planning and will launch a search for our new CEO in the next few weeks. Fay Balk, past Board president & HR professional, will lead the search committee which will begin its work later this month. I have committed to stay through this summer or early fall to give the search committee time to find the right CEO for JFS and to ensure an orderly transition.
I have enjoyed working with each and every one of you and will miss you all. I will be fully engaged with our work through the transition. If you have any questions, you can reach out anytime.
Thanks again for all you do!
Don Goldman
Executive Director and CEO
