Facilitator: Rabbi Shaya Katz, moved to Kansas City with his family from Riverdale, New York. Rabbi Katz attended Yeshiva University, from which he is ordained, and he completed his degree in social work with a certificate in Jewish Communal Service. Rabbi Katz has enjoyed enriching Jewish life here as part of the Kansas City Community Kollel.
Description: Everyone loves a good rabbi joke. Join Rabbi Katz to explore the great tradition of joking in Judaism’s earliest texts. What purpose does humor serve, if any? Are there any limitations to joking? What examples do we have in the Talmud of rabbis being funny (if any)? Join us to find out- and maybe laugh a little!
Facilitator: Sally N. Ellis Fletcher, PhD, RN, FNAP, is licensed to practice nursing in the states of Kansas, Missouri, and New York and is a certified Fall Stop…Move Strong™ trainer.
Description: Are you concerned about falling for yourself, an ageing parent, family member or friend? Many older adults are frightened of falling and are reluctant to talk about it. But falls are not an inevitable part of ageing. In fact, the fear of falling is a major risk as people tend to limit their activities in order not to fall, which results in increasing muscle weakness, poor balance and a higher risk of falls.
Light snacks served before at 6:00 PM
