The JFS Food Pantry continues to serve more people facing food insecurity. Since the beginning of the pandemic, the number of people receiving food support through two pantry locations has more than doubled to about 900 people monthly.
JFS needs the support of the community to keep pantry shelves stocked. The Rabbinical Association of Greater Kansas City will host a community food drive from 10 a.m. to noon on Sunday, Dec. 20. Members of the community are asked to drop off high need items like CANS OF SOUP, CRACKERS, and SANITIZING WIPES at The J KC. Following COVID safety protocols, JFS Food Pantry staff and volunteers will be on hand to take donations for the pantry during this drive-thru food drive
“The Rabbinical Association has been a great partner to keep Congregations engaged in supporting the JFS Food Pantry,” said Jo Hickey, JFS Food Pantry Director. “We could not serve families at the level we do without their support.”
JFS encourages individuals, businesses, organizations, schools, youth groups, and neighborhoods to host a food drive for JFS. If you would like to host a food drive, please email firstname.lastname@example.org or call Food Pantry Director Jo Hickey at (913) 327-8257. JFS will drop off barrels or totes for your collection and pick up the donations after your drive. Promotional materials to help include posters, email templates, and social media are also available.
