JFS has two interns with us this year, Scott Prywitch and Hayden Rand. At JFS, they will each have many opportunities to immerse themselves in the various programs and services that JFS provides.
Hayden is in her second year at the University of Kansas Master of Social Work program, pursuing the administration and advocacy focus.
“Hayden’s skill-set and focus are a great fit as she focuses most of her effort to lead a project to improve our program impact measurement and communication,” Richard Odiam, JFS Chief Program Officer, shares.
“As I work with the JFS staff and begin optimizing the tracking and dissemination of outcomes,” says Hayden, “I am learning how to manage successful, person-centered programs.”
Scott is in the second year of his BSW program at the University of Kansas. He is from St. Louis and has spent time volunteering in the food pantry. He is eager to learn more about our agency, our staff, and our clients.
“As I work closely with the JFS Navigator team, I am answering phone calls from prospective clients and referring them to an appropriate service,” says Scott. “I have the opportunity to observe case managers and the direct work they do with clients.”
They are both learning the vast array of services offered by JFS, which include Counseling and Mental Health, the Food Pantry, Jet Express, and Help@Home. Their practicums run from August to April.
Maggie Haghirian, Director of Kesher KC, sums it up, “JFS is lucky to have two talented and capable interns this year. Scott and Hayden have already been great assets to the agency and to our clients.”
