Message from Don
Dear Friend,
I hope your new year is off to a great start. I wanted to thank so many of you for the well-wishes I got last week in response to the news of my impending retirement later this year. I have loved the last 15 years at JFS and appreciate all we have accomplished together.
While retirement is in my future, for now I am focused on the dozens of projects that JFS is in the middle of to help us serve more people and to improve the way we deliver services. One program that is top of mind is KesherMobile which we began piloting last year. This is something that came out of the pandemic, where we learned of the need to take Kesher “on the road” so we can go closer to our clients and offer it in neighborhoods throughout the city. We have great partners in this effort including Evergy, the Kansas City Public Library, Urban League of Greater Kansas City and Harvesters. You can learn more here about the upcoming KesherMobile events.
KesherMobile is just one of the many innovations that JFS has brought to the Kansas City community over the last 120 years. For the rest of the year, while we continue to tell you more about our new programs, we will remember our history and how JFS has changed lives for over a century. Thanks for all you do supporting our work.

Donor Recognition

During a reception to celebrate their $100,000 gift to Jewish Family Services, Harry and Gail Himmelstein (far left) enjoyed a toast with their granddaughters Abigail, Megan and Emily, as well as their son Paul and his wife Susan.
Thank you to Gail and Harry Himmelstein for their generous donation to the JFS 120th anniversary campaign to support the organization’s older adult services! The gift establishes the Harry and Gail Himmelstein Older Adults Endowment Fund, housed at the Jewish Community Foundation.
