Jewish Family Services (JFS) is incredibly fortunate to count Linda Lyon among its most passionate supporters. Her generosity and commitment extend far beyond JFS, reaching organizations like Planned Parenthood Great Plains (PPGP), KC Care Health Center, the Arts Engagement Foundation (KC Studio Magazine), KCUR & Classical KC, KC Civic Orchestra—where she and her husband, Mike, play the violin—and the Jewish Community Foundation.
Linda was drawn to JFS because of its inclusive mission: serving Jewish and non-Jewish individuals of all backgrounds, ages, and identities. She especially values the organization’s focus on both physical and mental health. Witnessing JFS’s adaptability and dedication during the pandemic under Don Goldman’s leadership only deepened her admiration.
Most recently, Linda played a key role in JFS’s 120th Anniversary Celebration in 2023 and the Bright Night fundraiser in 2024.
“It was a joy to serve on these committees,” she said. “JFS makes it easy—just a couple of meetings, whether virtual or in person.”
Linda’s passion for giving extends beyond her own contributions—she loves inspiring others to get involved. She and the Berkley Family teamed up as Presenting Sponsors for the JFS Celebration, demonstrating her belief that collaboration amplifies impact.
“Pairing with another family created synergy—2+2=5,” she explains. “When an organization makes it easier for donors to participate, it’s a win-win for everyone.”
Because she truly believes in JFS’s mission, Linda is always ready to help.
“JFS makes a real impact. It changes lives. I want my giving to make a difference,” she said. “Plus, it’s incredibly rewarding to work with the JFS team—they’re so caring and professional.”
What Linda loves most is that JFS offers so many ways to get involved.
“It’s wonderful that people can support JFS however they’d like,” she shares. “You can volunteer in the food pantry, drive for JET Express, serve on a committee, or make a donation. Or,” she said with a laugh,” you can do all of the above!”
Looking ahead, Linda will be part of JFS’s B’nai Mitzvah: A Party for the Pantry—a special fundraising campaign celebrating the pantry’s 13th birthday, running from March through June 2025. She’s also hosting one of the new JFS 360 information sessions and tours to introduce more donors and community members to JFS’s impactful work.
JFS thanks Linda for all she does for JFS and our community. Her generosity and enthusiasm inspire us all.
