JFS hosted a Wipe Out Open House at its Brookside location in June to celebrate welcoming the public back together for the first time since the COVID shutdown.
Over 200 people braved especially hot, humid summer temperatures to tour the JFS Food Pantry, learn more about our services from our amazing staff from our various programs, and some enjoyed ice cream and popcorn!
Volunteers also helped assemble KesherKC Bags. More than 3,000 rolls of toilet paper were donated at the event as part of the annual JFS Wipe Out campaign to stock the food pantry. JFS supporters from BRR Architecture constructed a toilet paper wonder from donated rolls titled “Whale-come to JFS” which provided a wonderful visual at the event.
Special thanks go to Erin and Aaron Berger, who were the Presenting Sponsors and served as chairs for the event. And a huge thank you to all of our Ambassadors and Event Sponsors who helped make this event possible and who provided $26,500 in donations to support critical services at JFS.
Thank you also to our Wipe Out sponsors including Erin and Aaron Berger, Lara and Ben Pabst, MarksNelson, Kelly and Dan Somberg, Debbie and Neil Bass, The Pfluger Family, and Staffing Kansas City, Inc.
JFS distributes over 3,200 rolls of toilet paper each month to 800 families who shop in our pantries. Toilet paper is not covered by the federal government food stamp program, SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program).
Thank you to everyone who came out to Wipe Out to help JFS! It was wonderful to see so many in person after the last two years of many virtual visits. You can view more photos from the event and find out more how you can help host your own Wipe Out toilet paper drive on our website, www.jfskc.org.
